Youth Access to Counsel

The Youth Access to Counsel (YAC) Line is now live. Law Enforcement officers looking to reach an attorney for consultations required under RCW 13.40.740 can contact 1-877-J-PUB-DEF (1-877-578-2333) or (360) 252-9656. Attorneys are available 24/7 to provide consultations with youth.

Defenders looking for records relating to an on-call handled by OPD or a YAC Attorney can have their client sign this release of information [PDF] and return it to OPD. OPD can process releases of information for information held by our office and can obtain further call notes from the contract attorney who handled the call. Complaints

If you have a complaint about an attorney who assisted you with a YAC consultation, please send an This email address is being protected from spambots. Please include, your name, the approximate date and time of the call (to the best of your ability), the county that the call came from, and the attorney’s name (if you know it). The email should include the substance of your complaint, in other words, what went wrong with the consultation, what you would like to see improved for future clients, and/or any follow-up that you are requesting. This account is monitored by the Managing Attorney and Program Assistant of the Youth Access to Counsel Program at OPD. We will respond to your email as soon as possible.
